The Synchronization tab defines how the mobile and tablet applications exchange data with the server: in which mode, how the nightly data package is prepared, and which objects are included in it.
Global synchronisation settings
- Mode — the default synchronization mode for all users. Automatic means the application exchanges data in the background on its own; in manual mode data is updated only when the user starts synchronization.
- User can change mode — when the toggle is on, users can switch the mode on their own device. When it is off, the mode you set here applies to everyone and the setting is read-only on the device.
ℹ️ Note: Users can always start synchronization manually, whatever the mode. The mode decides only whether the application also exchanges data on its own.
Nightly data package
The server prepares a data package in advance, so that devices receive a ready package instead of waiting for it to be built. In Fetch at, set the time when the package is prepared.
⚠️ Important: Backups run daily from 3:00 AM to 6:00 AM. Choose a time outside this window, and take any other ETL processes configured on your instance into account.
Objects included in the package
The list below shows the objects that can be synchronized to devices. Select the check box next to an object to include it in the package; clear it to leave the object out.
Use the check box in the header to select or clear all objects at once, and the field under Name to find an object in a long list.
⚠️ Important: Every object you add increases the size of the package and the time users wait for data. Include only the objects your field team actually needs on the device.
Save the changes
Click Save. The new settings reach devices with the next synchronization.
